Learn how to store your yoga hand towel properly to maintain its grip and absorbency. Follow these simple steps to keep your towel performing at its best.
Quick answer
Store your yoga hand towel clean and completely dry in a cool, ventilated place to preserve its microfiber grip and prevent bacteria buildup.
Why storage matters for grip
The microfiber in towels like the Yoga Hand Towel - Pearl is designed to wick moisture and provide traction. If stored damp or in a sealed bag, moisture can break down the fibers and cause odors that reduce grip over time.
Proper storage is just as important as washing because it protects the towel's texture and absorbency between uses.
How to store your yoga hand towel for maximum grip
- 1. Wash and rinse thoroughly: After each use, wash the towel with mild detergent and rinse well. Residue from detergent or fabric softener can coat the microfiber and reduce grip. Avoid fabric softener and bleach—they clog microfiber pores.
- 2. Dry completely before storing: Hang the towel flat or line-dry it in a well-ventilated area until it is fully dry. Even slightly damp microfiber can develop mildew, which weakens fibers and causes slippery spots. Check the corners and folds—they trap moisture.
- 3. Store in a breathable, cool place: Fold the dry towel loosely and place it in a drawer, open basket, or on a shelf. Avoid plastic bags, airtight containers, or humid gym bags, which trap moisture and encourage bacteria growth. If you must carry it in a bag, use a mesh pouch for airflow.
